He lived in Civil District 8, Hardin Co. Savannah, Tennessee throughout his life. Henry worked as a farmer at age 35. He fathered three sons and one daughter. According to 1900 US Census, Henry resided in dwelling lot 71 with his five children and his sister, Molly. Fate Breshers, a teenage boarder and farm laborer, is also listed as a resident. Henry could read and write.
His inferred mother, Harriet Bradley was a Negro house keeper from Virginia. She could not read or write and Harriet is the single Black woman listed on the Crenshaw Co. Alabama 1870 Census.
