Dudley Bradley Sr. was a Negro (Black) farmer. Born in July 25, 1893 (listed as 1886 in some sources) in Savannah, Hardin County, Tennessee, his father and mother were from Tennessee also. He became a farmer laborer at the age of 13. According to 1920 US census, Dudley never attended school, however he was able to read and write. His first marriage was at age 23 to Leola Jones, 18 of St. Francis, Ark on Jan. 28, 1914. (Together they had two children, Ora Lee Bradley in 1918 and John Henry Bradley 1916-1989). In June 1917, he was drafted to World War I.
On Aug. 25, 1917 Dudley married Mississippi native Carrie Wright at the age of 24 in Widener, St. Francis, Arkansas. Together they had 6 children. In 1920 Dudley Sr. lived in Black Fish, St Francis, Arkansas, at the age of 27. In 1930, Dudley Sr. lived in Choctaw Township, Lincoln, Arkansas were at the age of 37 he continued work in general farming. He also lived on the farm. As reported in census, he worked on Farm number/Schedule No. 221.
